The Liadou® knife originated in Marcillac, France and was created for use in the region’s vineyards. Liadou® means “binding or tying tool” in Occitan as this knife was used to split grapevine canes in order to tie them to wood stakes. This handy tool was also used for eating during work breaks and for domestic chores. These slip joint pocketknives have blades that snap into place with authority, boasting ultra-sharp cutting edges and a downward pointing tip.

• The type of steel used for the blade: Sandvik® 14C28 Steel, XC75 or RWL34 Carbon
• The material used to create the bolsterless handle scales (12cm/4.7in): stabilized bone, ebony, blonde horn, fiberglass (blue, orange, red, white or black), recycled oak wine barrels, olive, juniper or box tree wood.
The Liadou® Original comes in a gift box along with a Certificate of Authenticity guaranteeing its superior quality, as well as the origin of each of the materials used to manufacture it. All of our raw materials undergo a rigorous process of selection.
